Snook Islands Volunteers Event -


Volunteers needed March 3, 2012 to create a Native Coastal Hardwood Hammock in the Upland Buffer to the Snook Islands Natural Area on the Lake Worth Lagoon. 

When: March 3, 2012  - 8 a m to noon and/or noon to 4 p m
                                          - Volunteer for half day or full day.
What: Help plant and mulch over 400 donated shrubs and trees on the Upland Buffer of the Coastal Hardwood Hammock to Snook Islands Natural Area.
Where:  The Upland Portion of Snook Islands Natural Area is located between the Lake Worth Bridge and the southern tip of the Lake Worth Golf Course and the Lake Worth Lagoon.
Volunteers: Wear sturdy shoes, garden gloves, sunscreen, and a hat.
Bring: Shovels, wheel barrows, rakes, and brooms are welcome, mark your tools.
Tell: Your friends, family, and neighbors. Plant experts and plant novices are all needed.
Native Plants and Trees: Jane Thompson, Indian Trails Native Nursery, has generously donated over 400 native plants and trees suitable for this environmental restoration.

*SADSAC Volunteers will be at Guardian Storage, 3450 S. Congress Av., Building E Unit 527, Boynton Beach, from 10am to 1pm on Sat. 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, 3/3, 3/10, and 3/17 to accept drop off. The storage is on the east side, south of Golf Rd. and north of Lake Ida Rd. You must call ahead before the day you drop off and make arrangements as this is a gated access facility and our volunteers will need to let you in. You can then drive right up to the storage location.

Lake Osborne Estate Event Success

We had a great turn out for our big event in Lake Osborne Estates! Thanks to the Adonai Church of God and all the other volunteers associated with PHYO, RT PB and NHNP for helping out this wonderful family!

Lake Osborne Estate Volunteer Event this Saturday

We will be helping a family in our neighboring Association of Lake Osborne Estates. The Chamberlain Family will be moving into 1423 Crest Drive soon and we are asking all volunteers to join us to help get this home ready. The Family has been through a lot of unfortunate financial difficulties and one of their twins are confined to a wheel chair and has on going therapy. Their past house was a split level home which was just not suitable for a wheel chair.

We will be painting the inside and outside of the home and scaling back some landscaping, removing some bedding material and old fencing. Many minor repairs are needed such as plumbing, fixtures and several other items. Through all our various programs and partners such as Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches, Paint Your Heart Out, Neighbors Helping Neighbors Project and volunteers from all area's of Palm Beach County we can make a difference in this deserving family to relocate and prepare and environment for their child to thrive is a safe single story home.

The Chamberlains have been a family that has always been a part of giving back and now they need us. Lets show our spirit and caring through this loving and heartfelt Saturday of volunteering for a family in need of a helping hand. Again the address is 1423 Crest Drive just of High Ridge Road and Lake Osborne Drive.

Paint your heart out is going strong in January! We have 5 houses scheduled for January in Lake Worth along with other homes through out Palm Beach County! We hope to continue to make a difference all year long in 2012 and are always looking for more groups to sign up and participate in one of our events.
