2212 Collier Lake Worth & 1774 Pleasant Dr. Juno Beach

Dear Volunteers,

Just a reminder that we will be back at 2212 Collier Ave. in Lake Worth in the ROLOH Area to continue on with our clean out and up. We will start at 8:30 am September 4th on a Saturday. All age groups 16 and up are welcome (There is minor weed pulling in the yard so younger teenagers accompanied by a parent are welcome with parental supervision).

Our main focus will be to continue cleaning out the home, working with the homeowner to decide what stays and what can be sold. We would also like to start the yard sale as we are performing the clean out to help facilitate moving merchandise and raising funds for this home owner. (I personally have a bag of men's clothing that I will be donating to the yard sale) The homeowner will be on hand to aid us however please remember this homeowner is a senior and has physical disabilities.

Goal for this Saturday is to get as much non valuables and perishables out, secure a staging area to review good items for the homeower to decide what can go in the sale and continue removing old carpeting and trash. Please pass on the word as we need as many volunteers as possible and for those that live in the North County area we have another clean up/out on Pleasant Drive in Juno Beach so please feel free to help at that clean out.

Both homes will need handy work done also......removing wall paper, repairing light fixtures, patching holes in walls, Heavy Duting Cleaning, patching roof eves, minor outside wall repairs, Yard Work, etc...

As we gain more cases (and we are starting to get more notifications) we will place it on a schedule and keep all volunteers informed. Please visit www.volunteerpalmbeach.blogspot.com often for updates. If you would like to become a corporate sponsor and donate supplies please contact myself, Joanna Aiken or Ruth Moguillansky-DeRose or are cc'd on this email. We thank or partners Paint Your Heart Out, Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches, OCR, City of Lake Worth and Staff, DCI Construction, PBSO and PBSO D14, NAPC and many others. Please notify your local policing agencies, utilities and code enforcements to let us know of these type of cases that really need help and aid so we my coordinate the volunteer efforts with all agencies.

If you would like not to be on the volunteer email list please reply with "remove" in the subject line. We will strive not to send out multiple emails unless we need to notify you of a cancellation or change of location. Most information will be posted to the website and volunteers are also needed to help with the site....

Thank you from all of us to all of you for caring!

Success is Defined in many ways. Betsy THANK You.

Hi Mr. Waples,

Just a side note of thanks...Not only did you improve my house but you improved my son Mike. As a mom I'm constantly asking him to pick up after himself, well he now asks me to please keep the front of the house picked up! I had the hose stretched across the driveway to water the bougainvillea daily, as instructed, and he informs me that it doesn't look good with the hose lying on the driveway. I have worked for 21 years to achieve that response and you all did it in two weekends. I will always remember this day!
Thanks
Betsy Picard

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers Sought to Help Rebuilding Together and OCR Clean Up Elderly Woman’s Home

Volunteers are needed to assist Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches and the Palm Beach County Office of Community Revitalization (OCR) on Saturday, August 28, as they work to clean up an elderly woman’s cluttered home and yard in North Palm Beach.

The woman has no family in the area and is staying temporarily with a neighbor.

Rebuilding Together of the Palm Beaches works to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities and works in partnership with the OCR to bring labor and resources together for community revitalization projects. Volunteers for Saturday’s event are needed, as are cleaning supplies such as trash bags, towels, rags, sponges, etc. Any assistance is appreciated.

For more information, please contact Joanna Aiken at 561-358-2163.

Another Palm Beach County Resident in Need

HI Joanna,

Thank you for the assistance you gave during our phone conversation this morning. As I said our neighbor Barbara Lewis is a sweet elderly lady who has recently been hospitalized. She has no family and has been living under terrible circumstances. Barbara is a "collector" of sorts. She just will not throw away anything. She will not be permitted to return to her home until it is cleaned up and repairs have been made. At this time we are in urgent need of a dumpster...as soon as possible. We would also like to speak with you about other services for her such as the Paint Your Heart out Programs, and Rebuilding Together. We have come together as a community to help our neighbor, by cleaning and repairing in an effort to get her back into her home as soon as possible. This is a sweet woman who loves her gardens and feeds all of the local kitties (about 12 of them). It would be wonderful if she were able to come back home to a nice clean home and all of her little friends.

Please let me know if there is anything else we need to do to expedite this process. I will fill out the application for assistance and return to you as soon as I receive it. Thanks Again !!!

Appreciation

It was wonderful to work together as a team and the house looks just beautiful!.

Can you imagine if every person would do something that would make life just a little bit easier for our neighbor or added a tiny bit of joy to someone's day? Wow, how powerful it would be.

You don't learn volunteerism, you just do it. The attitude of helpfulness comes naturally:-).

Neighbors Helping Nieghbors is Contagious!!!!

Good morning, Mr. Tate.

PBSO Lt. Chris Keane asked if this volunteer opportunity might be sent to the GTAC distribution.

Per Debbie Downie, Office Administrator for Habitat for Humanities, they will be working with volunteers on the Pahokee house this Saturday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will also be opportunities for volunteers to help build this house every Tuesday through Saturday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm until the house is completed. The exception to this schedule would be if any of these days land on a Holiday or Holiday weekend.

It is required that all volunteers “Register” on their VolunteerUp site. They also need to sign a waiver. (Attached) Each time they volunteer, they need to go online and “Sign Up” for the day they will be working. They can also check this site for any changes to the schedule. Access is through the website at www.habitatpbc.org

Thank you.

Tomorrow we should have a good team coming to get the painting done one member is DCI Construction that will be patching some of the cracks in the walls for us.
