October 4th, 5:00 - 5:50 pm: Recognize Lake Worth Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Purple Light Nights Campaign
In honor of Martha Aguilar, murdered by her husband in Lake Worth , September, 2011, and in honor of all victims/survivors of domestic violence.
Gather at City Hall for the illumination of the Purple Lights. Speakers and a spoken word artist will attest to the epidemic of domestic violence and help us learn what we can do to end this violence in our community.

October 19th, 9:30 pm: Speak Now
Poetry Uncorked presents Speak Now, an open mic for the Spoken Word in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Location: Dolce Vita, 609 Lake Ave; admission is free
October 25th, 7:00 pm: Telling Amy's Story
This powerful documentary is based on a timeline leading up to the murder of Amy Homan McGee by her husband. The film encourages us to ask, "What can we do, on both individual and community levels, to address domestic violence openly and collectively - in order to avoid tragedies such as this in the future?" Sponsored by PBC Sheriff's Office in partnership with the City of Lake Worth and the PBC Domestic Violence Council.

Shine a purple light this October!Please join us in observing the Purple Light Nights campaign by shining purple porch lights in October to honor the victims and survivors of domestic violence and to bring hope to those still being abused. Send a clear message to everyone that there is no place in our community for domestic violence!
(Purple light bulbs may be purchased at Studio 205, located at 600 Lake Ave. )
The City of Lake Worth will be hosting numerous displays for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, including the Clothesline Project, Silent Witnesses and the Missing Place at the Table. These moving exhibits may be seen at City Hall, the City Annex, Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse and the Library.
